Through most of Sheilah Kast's distinguished reporting career she has focused on the economy and workplace and how they affect people's lives. From her first job at The Washington Star newspaper, covering the Maryland and Virginia legislatures, Sheilah went on to become a well known broadcaster to viewers of ABC News, CNN and public television. Her reporting has ranged from the White House to Congress to the historic 1991 coup attempt in Moscow, which signaled the end of the Soviet Empire.

As Sheilah covered the Washington aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks, her stories included an investigation of anthrax in the mails and the struggles of bereaved Pentagon families to secure benefits.

In the late 1990's, Sheilah began and hosted a weekly national public television show, This Week in Business, in association with Business Week magazine, on which she analyzed breaking developments in commerce, discussed trends in personal finance and interviewed business leaders. Sheilah further utilized her interview skills while guest hosting NPR's Weekend Edition Sunday on a regular basis. These days, she hosts her own lively interview show on public radio entitled Maryland Morning with Sheilah Kast.
